SINDOGRAPHIES

Un étude Photographique

The Holy Shroud (Sindone) is a blood-stained linen cloth that supposedly wrapped the dead body of the most transcendent being in our culture: Christ. It is one of the most studied images of mankind and some theorists even consider it to be the first photograph.

What do stained linen cloths and screens have in common? What faith and devotion do digital images inspire in us? What impression do they leave on us when we touch them? What ability do they have to revive spirits? How do we distinguish the ‘real’ from the fakes?

‘Sindographies’ is a photographic investigation that goes back to the roots of the medium itself to analyse the new digital deepfake images.
